1. Introduction

Interlinear Oy ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Statement describes how the Yomi Reading App handles information. In short: the app stores everything on the child's device. Almost nothing leaves the device, and we do not run analytics or tracking of any kind.

2. Information we handle

2.1 Information stored only on your device

The following information is stored locally inside the app on your device. It is not transmitted to our servers and is not accessible to us:

• The display name you choose for the in-app character (a nickname, not your real name)
• Your chosen avatar (selected from a set of illustrated avatars bundled in the app)
• Reading session history (duration, pages read, points earned)
• Energy levels and Yomi character evolution stage
• Bookmarks and reading progress per story
• Reading preferences

If you delete the app, this information is deleted with it.

2.2 Information sent to our backend, processed in real time and not stored

When you create a custom story, the parameters you choose (reading level, theme, and the character name you type for the fictional story character) are sent to our story generation service. When you tap a word or page to hear it read aloud, the text is sent to our text-to-speech service to generate audio. These requests are processed in real time and the inputs are not retained on our servers after the response is returned.

2.3 Information we receive from Apple for subscriptions

If you subscribe to Yomi, Apple shares the following with us through its StoreKit service, processed via our subscription provider RevenueCat:

• An anonymous installation identifier (no link to your real identity)
• Your subscription status (active, trialing, expired)
• The product identifier of the subscription tier purchased
• Receipt data used solely to verify the purchase

2.4 What we do not collect

• Audio recordings — the app does not record from the microphone
• Photos or videos — the app does not access the camera or photo library
• Names, addresses, emails, phone numbers, or any other contact information
• Location data
• Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) — we do not request App Tracking Transparency
• Behavioral analytics, usage telemetry, or crash reports
• Information from third-party accounts
• Payment information (handled entirely by Apple)

3. Subscriptions and payments

Yomi offers an optional subscription with a free trial. All payments, billing details, and renewal information are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store credit card numbers, billing addresses, or other payment details.

3.1 What we do not receive

• Your Apple ID or any identifier that links to your real identity
• Your credit card or bank details
• Your billing address or phone number

3.2 Managing your subscription

Subscriptions can be viewed, changed, or cancelled at any time from your device's App Store settings. Cancelling stops auto-renewal but does not trigger a refund for the current period; refunds are handled by Apple under their App Store policies.

In-app purchases are placed behind a parental gate so a child cannot initiate a purchase without an adult.

4. How we use information

Reading progress, energy, points, and the Yomi character evolution are calculated entirely on your device using locally stored data. The only information that leaves the device is the small amount described in sections 2.2 and 2.3, used to generate story content, pronounce words aloud, and verify your subscription. We do not profile users, do not perform analytics on individual reading behavior, and do not generate any cross-user statistics from identifiable data.

5. Data storage and security

Reading history, profile data, and progress are stored locally in the app's on-device database. This data is never transmitted to our servers. Subscription status is held by our subscription provider RevenueCat using an anonymous installation identifier. All network requests are encrypted in transit using HTTPS.

6. Service providers and disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or lease user data to any third party, and we do not share data with advertisers, ad networks, data brokers, or analytics providers. The app interacts with only two outside services:

• RevenueCat — handles validation of Apple StoreKit subscription receipts. Receives the anonymous installation identifier and the receipt only.
• Our story generation and text-to-speech backend — operated by Interlinear Oy, used to generate custom story content and word pronunciation audio. Receives only the request parameters described in section 2.2, processes them in real time, and does not retain them after the response is returned.

We may disclose information if required by law.

7. Children's privacy

The Yomi Reading App is designed for children aged 5–9 with parent supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app uses no accounts and no real-world identifiers. Profile data, progress, and reading activity are stored only on the device. Subscriptions cannot be initiated without an adult passing a parental gate. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising.
